Suggestions and Feedback

I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Make the "When" value show time after page load

The When field on the error detail page currently shows "Before page load" or "After page load"

I have a single page app that runs for longer than a normal web page, it would be very impressive to have some idea of "When" the error happened. "2 seconds after page load" "10 minutes after page load" etc.

  2. Encode HTML characters

If a substring in the page url is a HTML entity, it's rendered as HTML, ( some special character).

    E.g: A URL like http://somesite.com/?a=b&current_stage=2 becomes http://somesite.com/?a=b¤t_stage=2 (&curren getting rendered as HTML)

  3. Grouing error messages from different browsers

One error causes different messages in different browsers. It would be very useful to group those errors.

Maybe errorception could even use the grouping to learn which errors are essentially the same.

  4. make long URLs readable in the error display

Right now they're getting truncated with ellipsis at the end, but I can't get the full path in any obvious way. Which is pretty important for debugging.

When I click on it I can see the contents, but that actually doesn't help me because I have several files with similar contents. And I can't right click for it because it's a Javascript URL. (Making the HREF the real URL and using an onclick handler to do the contents display window would be a nice "unobstrusive" thing to do.)

  5. Add user management to your API

We'd love to integrate Errorception support into Meldium so that companies can quickly add their new employees and contractors to their Errorception accounts. Can you expose your list / invite / remove user methods over your API? Thanks!

  6. Pivotal Tracker Integration

Pivotal Tracker Integration so that we can more easily prioritize and track bugs alongside our features and other server side bugs.

    Airbrake does this pretty well.

    Thanks,
    Jon

  8. Wildcard subdomains

Would be convenient to wildcard subomdains. e.g. *.mydomain.com

  9. CloudFlare App Integration

Being able to enable errorception on a site by checking a box in cloud flare would be super handy, and save a lot of time. It's also great exposure, I've signed up for several services I've found on their App page.

  11. Integrate billing into your own site

I don't like that emails about billing come from 2checkout.com and I am redirected there to change payment settings. I would feel more secure if this happened on errorception.com

  12. Provide a way to manually log warnings (console.warn)

Sometimes there are edge cases in code that don't trigger an exception, but you'd like to log as a warning with console.warn. It'd be nice to be able to see this in errorception.

  13. SMS or Email Alerts based on URL regex if more than X events are fired within a timeframe (or just total).

This would be helpful for 'important' pages such as signup, or key app pages. If a new browser comes out and breaks a certain page, it may take a bit of time before we check error-ception.

  15. Add Github Issues API Integration

A simple integration of the github issues api could be done.
Just let the admin to enter github credential with SSO, choose the project, and then auto open issues on that project.

Here is the issues api endpoint:

  16. provide more options for frequency of email notifications

a daily report is too infrequent for our needs. if something in our application fails, I would like to know about it far sooner. I would like to be able to change the frequency of the notification emails (to every hour - or perhaps even more frequently).

I would also like to be able to have the email sent even if no new errors occurred. with the current implementation, I can't know for sure that there weren't errors (perhaps the email got junked/lost/wasn't sent due to a failure with errorception), so I have to login to check anyway. I would…

  17. Log percentage of times per url an error occurs, after the error is logged the first time.

We have a lot of errors that occur sporadically / due to ad server code. It would be interesting and useful to see how many times / the ratio of times the page loaded with said error.

    http://yourdomain.com/somepage (71% of page loads)

  18. Event Tracking

We use minified JavaScript code for production (Sencha Touch), so the error line number is almost always useless for debugging. It is a single page application built upon events. Google Analytics has a nice way to specify an action for the Event Tracking with optional label.

It would be great to have support of adding custom information to the error report, like which function did it occur in, or what page state it was happening. Of course, this would probably mean to use some kind of API for errorception to support this kind of information, but it is worth it…

  19. provide a free text filter field

It would be especially handy if I could specify the fields to search. For example, I'd like to be able to filter all errors with "missing translation key" in the message for i18n purposes; but I'd also like to be able to search all errors on a specific page.

  20. I'd prefer actual dates over relative dates.

I'd prefer seeing dates as July 7, 2012 15:45 in addition to or in replace of "2 weeks ago"
