Suggestions and Feedback

I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Support IP address in "Allowed domains"

It would be nice if you could allow an IP-address as an allowed domain in the Settings section. We have som pilot users that are testing against a test server that does not have å domain name, just an IP with a port number.

  2. Add support for unhandled Promise rejections

See http://www.2ality.com/2016/04/unhandled-rejections.html for details on how this works. For apps that use the new "fetch" API or otherwise wrap things in Promises, it would be useful to catch unhandled errors that happen within those Promises.

Note that Bluebird is probably the most common Promise polyfill library, and it fires the "unhandledrejection" event with a slightly different event object than is standard: http://bluebirdjs.com/docs/api/error-management-configuration.html

  3. Pivotal Tracker Integration

Pivotal Tracker Integration so that we can more easily prioritize and track bugs alongside our features and other server side bugs.

    Airbrake does this pretty well.

    Thanks,
    Jon

  4. Export full error report to pdf

Have some way to export a full error report so it can be emailed/saved for reference or delegation to another teammate.

  5. Secret SourceMap and CDN and webpack

I'm Working in a next.js project and I generate separate sourcemap with Webpack. I have this problems.

    1. webpack export all sourcesMaps in a subfoldert then for my file `.next/static/chunks/hash.js` my sourcemap will be `.next/SECRET/static/chunks/hash.js.map`. how you can see this is not the suggested behavior :
"/a/b/c/script.js, -> /a/b/c/SECRET/script.js.map and is impossible adjust webpack to create this folder patter even worst with nextjs who create js files in different folders.

    2. I upload all my assets to the CDN, then, I not sure if errorception will search sourcemaps in my domain or in my CDN. I need to let search…

  6. Show the occurrences of errors based on the search criteria and not per week

When selecting a date from the left (i.e. yesterday - today) I expect to see the number of occurrences the errors in this timeframe. I would also like to be able to sort by frequency to see the most frequent errors in this time frame.

  7. Encode HTML characters

If a substring in the page url is a HTML entity, it's rendered as HTML, ( some special character).

    E.g: A URL like http://somesite.com/?a=b&current_stage=2 becomes http://somesite.com/?a=b¤t_stage=2 (&curren getting rendered as HTML)

  9. Add support for Logstash

Logstash can receive events over TCP, but does not handle HTTP per default, and expects one event per line.

  10. Integrate billing into your own site

I don't like that emails about billing come from 2checkout.com and I am redirected there to change payment settings. I would feel more secure if this happened on errorception.com

  11. Provide automatic guidance for fixing errors

This could range from incredibly simple (eg. auto-populate a google search with the error string) to something more complex eventually.

Having something like this would expand errorception from something that simply reports errors to something that aids in fixing them, even if that's to provide an improved workflow for searching about the error.

  12. SMS or Email Alerts based on URL regex if more than X events are fired within a timeframe (or just total).

This would be helpful for 'important' pages such as signup, or key app pages. If a new browser comes out and breaks a certain page, it may take a bit of time before we check error-ception.

  13. Add user management to your API

We'd love to integrate Errorception support into Meldium so that companies can quickly add their new employees and contractors to their Errorception accounts. Can you expose your list / invite / remove user methods over your API? Thanks!

  14. Show an example of the integration of your FAQ

Perhaps a minor point, but it's pretty common to see an example of the integration (eg. the javascript snippet) listed somewhere on the public product page for a service such as this; would you consider adding something like this to your FAQ?

  15. Fix cancel subscription!

Can't cancel subscription because the server gives 500 on clicking the Cancel link after entering the email.

  16. make long URLs readable in the error display

Right now they're getting truncated with ellipsis at the end, but I can't get the full path in any obvious way. Which is pretty important for debugging.

When I click on it I can see the contents, but that actually doesn't help me because I have several files with similar contents. And I can't right click for it because it's a Javascript URL. (Making the HREF the real URL and using an onclick handler to do the contents display window would be a nice "unobstrusive" thing to do.)

  19. Autolink urls in comments

It would be nice if url in comments could automatically replaced by links.

  20. add a fix for Gateway timeout error (504)

This is a persistent issue, and doesn't allow access to the errors. The errors also do not show in the error list.
